Day 01: Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel: On your arrival at Delhi, our representative will meet you and drive you to your hotel for the overnight.
Day 02: Full day in Delhi: In Delhi's 3000 years of existence, seven cities stood where the present capital of India stands. Here you'll encounter a fascinating blend of the ancient and the contemporary life.
Morning visit Old Delhi
Visit the 7th city of Delhi, Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi) which was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (1639-48 AD) after he shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi. Red Fort - the 17th century imposing fortress built in red sandstone is surrounded by a huge boundary wall 33m high. Inside are exquisite palaces and beautiful gardens. Opposite the Red Fort lies Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) made of red sandstone and white marble, completed in 1656. It is India's largest mosque where more than 20.000 people can kneel in prayer. Visit Raj Ghat on the banks of the river Yamuna, Mahatma Gandhi's Memorial, where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948. An eternal flame burns 24 hours.
Afternoon visit New Delhi.
Visit the Humayun's Tomb, built by his wife Haji Begum in the 16th century. An early example of Mughal architecture considered the predecessor of the Taj Mahal. The Qutub Minar - the landmark of Delhi, a huge tower of victory started in 1199 and completed in 1368. The minar is 72.5 M high with a diameter at the base 14.4m and 2.7m at the top. Proceed to the Rashtrapati Bhawan once the Viceroy's residence is now the official residence of the President of India. Designed by Lutyens, it combines western and eastern styles. It has 340 rooms. The Parliament House, designed by Baker is 173m in diameter. Inside is the library and chambers for the council of state, chamber of princes and legislative assembly. The India Gate (42m) commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world war. 13516 names of British and Indian soldiers killed in the Afghan War of 1919 are engraved on the arch and foundations. Under the arch, the Amar Jawan Jyoti (flame) commemorating Indian armed forces' losses in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971.
After the sightseeing of Delhi, you drive back to your hotel.
Day 03: Delhi to Jaipur/260 Kms/06 hours: Early morning drive towards Jaipur. Sway Jai Singh, The sovereign of Amber, built Jaipur in the eighteenth century. It was also around that time that the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb had died and the decline of the Mughal Empire had set in. Jai Singh had started distancing himself from the affair of the Mughal Court and he began concentrating on building of Amber. His search for a safe place for the increasing population of Amber resulted in Jaipur, This was India's first planned city and a brilliant architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya from Bengal was commissioned to plan the city. He designed it in accordance with ancient Hindu treatise on architecture, the Shilpa Shastra (Vaastu).
Jaipur has a timeless appeal in its colorful bazaars that delights for its Rajasthani handlooms and trinkets. Beautifully laid out gardens and parks, attractive monuments and marvelous heritage hotels, once the residence of Maharajas, are worth admiration, not to mention the ambling camels and cheerful people in multi hued costumes that make Jaipur a tourist's paradise. Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Jaigarh fort, City Palace museum are few things that all must see. In the afternoon enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the Pink City covering most of above mentioned places and overnight spend at the hotel. Optionally enjoy an elephant ride while visiting the Amber Fort this day if time allows or we will shift some activities for next morning.
Day 04: Jaipur to Ranthambore/ 170 Kms/ 5-6 hours: Morning sightseeing of Jaipur as it could be difficult to cover all mentioned places above and further drive to Ranthambore National Park which will take about 5-6 hours to reach. Day visit to the park area and overnight at the wildlife resort.
Ranthambore is primarily scores its point on the list of tourist attractions because of its tiger reserve. However, the place offers you much more for sightseeing and going on excursions. Situated on the border of the Thar Desert, Ranthambore is surrounded by the Vindhya Hills and the Aravali Hills. Its very location gives it an advantage of possessing the treasure of mysterious desert lands as well as plain area near the hills. The vegetation primarily comprises of deciduous forests.
Ranthambore was the erstwhile hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Jaipur until 1955 when it was declared as a game sanctuary. With the emergence of Project Tiger, it was declared a national park and listed among its protected reserves in 1980. With time, it emerged as the wildlife photographers' delight as it offers them a chance to photograph the tiger in its natural environment. A Jeep Safari in the national park, a cultural and traditional experience with the Meena tribes, and for the more adventurous, a night-out in the hideouts of the park makes Ranthambore a good choice to visit. Festival of Lord Ganesha, the Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated at 10th century Ranthambore Fort every year.
Day 05: Ranthambore national Park (full day) : Enjoy the morning and evening trips in open trucks and jeeps in Ranthambore national Park and spend time tracking Tigers and viewing other wildlife attractions of the park.
The landscape is dotted with ancient Banyan Trees, Dhok & Pipal trees, clusters of mango trees and crisscrossed with evergreen belts. The terrain is made up of massive rock formations, steep scarps, perennial lakes and streams and forest suddenly opening up into large areas of Savannah. The terrain of Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary fluctuates between impregnable forests and open bush land. The forest is the typically dry deciduous type, with Dhok, being the most prominent tree.
The park has a rich diversity of fauna and flora - species list includes 300 trees, 50 aquatic plants, 272 birds, 12 reptiles including the Marsh Crocodile & amphibians and 30 mammals. For the wildlife savvy, Ranthambore wildlife sanctuary today offers an intense diversity of flora and fauna. Tigers; the park's pride makes it one of the best places in the country to observe them. Apart from that a large numbers of Sambar, Chital, Nilgai, Gazelle, Boars, Mongoose, Indian Hare, Monitor Lizards and a large number of birds. Overnight at resort.
Day 06: Ranthambore to Bharatpur/ 250 Kms/ 06 hrs. : From Ranthambore we move towards the Paradise of the most beautiful birds that is The Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary or Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary. Apart from the exotic birds there are also places of historic interest like the splendid Bharatpur Palace has a large number of ancient exhibits that date back to the early 15th century. The maharajas of Bharatpur became famous for the bird-lands they carefully developed in the marshes just outside Bharatpur. In old times, the duck shoots hosted here were attended by several maharajas and visiting British dignitaries. These splendid bird-lands have now been converted into a remarkable, if small, national park. Today, bird watchers flock to this once duck-shooting spot of the royal family for an opportunity to soothe their eyes with more than 380 species of beautiful feathered friends who have already been identified here and even for the opportunity to spot some more! A paradise for bird watchers, photographers and nature lovers, it is the best place to see the exotic beauty of varied species. Egrets, ducks, coots, storks, kingfishers, spoonbills, Sarus crane, laggar falcon, greater spotted eagle, marsh harrier, Pallas' eagle can be seen here quite often and if visitors are lucky, they may even spot the rare Siberian Crane that migrate to this place in winters. You would love bicycle rides in this sanctuary. Overnight at Resort. Brij Festival of Bharatpur is very famous.
Day 07: Bharatpur to Agra/ 56 Kms / 1-2/hours: Depart for Agra and en route visit the walled city of Fatehpur Sikri. After lunch, enjoy a guided tour of Taj Mahal. Overnight spend at the hotel.
Day 08: Agra to Khajuraho by train: Morning transfer to Railway Station to board Shatawdi Express for Jhansi. Arrive Jhansi and drive to Khajuraho visiting Orchha en-route. Orchha's grandeur has been captured in stone and frozen in time, and has become a rich legacy to the ages. The hand of time has rested lightly on this medieval city and the palaces and temples built by its Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th centuries retain much of their pristine perfection. Orchha was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput chieftain Rudra Pratap who chose this stretch of land along the Betwa River as an ideal site for his capital. Of the succeeding rulers, the most notable was Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo who built the exquisite Jehangir Mahal, a tiered palace crowned by graceful chhatries. (The umbrella shaped roof tops). Arrive Khajuraho by late afternoon and check–in at Hotel. Sightseeing of Khajuraho: In the temple architecture of India, the Khajuraho complex remains unique. One thousand years ago, under the generous and artistic patronage of the Chandela Rajput kings of Central India, 85 temples, magnificent in form and richly carved, came up on one site, near the village of Khajuraho. The creators of Khajuraho claimed descent from the moon.
Day 09: Khajuraho to Bandhavgarh National Park/ 212 Kms/6-7 hours: Morning drive to Bandhavgarh and we reach here by noon. Afternoon visit to the park in jeeps for tiger tracking. Overnight at a wildlife resort.
Day 10: Bandhavgarh National Park: Enjoy jeep safari in the park during morning and evening. The Bandhavgarh National Park is located within the district of Sahdol in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This forest nestled among the Vindhya hills came into existence in 1968 when the Maharaja of Rewa handed over the area to the government for its formation. At the time when it was handed over to the government, the fauna was not faring too well due to the difficulty in the control of poaching. Once this became a protected area, the animal population took a drastic turn and began to flourish. At this time, the entire park covered an area of 106 square kilometers whereas it presently consists of an area of 448 square kilometers. These much required extensions, to the northern and southern areas, of the park were done in 1982.
These areas consisted primarily of Sal forests, which is the main tree-cover found in the entire park along with Bamboo. It was finally declared a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in 1993
Day 11: Bandhavgarh to Kanha national Park/ 310 Kms/ 07 hours: Early morning visit to the Bandhavgarh Park and later drive to Kanha National Park. On reaching the Kanha national park you are checked into the resort and the plan for the evening Jeep safari at the Kanha Tiger Reserve is made.
Kanha is considered to be the Kipling country and the nearby forests were the setting for the "Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling. It's an outstanding national park of Central India, noted for its last remaining population of the hard-ground race of the Swamp Deer. It was in Kanha National Park that the eminent zoologist George Schaller studied the relation-ship between predators and its prey and came out with the book 'Deer and The Tiger'.
Day 12: Kanha National Park: Morning and evening jeep safari at Kanha for tiger tracking, exploring the park's natural wilds or bird watching. Located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha national park cum Tiger reserve extends over an area of over 1,940-sq-kms. The major feature of this region's interesting topography is the horseshoe shape valley and the whole park area is surrounded by the spurs of the Mekal. The Surpan River meanders through Kanha's central plains, grasslands that cover the extensive plateau. Steep rocky escarpments along the edges offer breathtaking views of the valley. Overnight at a wildlife resort.
Day 13: Kanha to Drive to Nagpur/226Kms: Morning drive for about 6 hours from Kanha takes you to Nagpur airport to board flight to Mumbai. On arrival our representative will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel.
Day 14: Fly home: Day excursion of Mumbai, the most fascinating metro city of India and later we leave you to the airport for your flight to back home.
