Mt. Shivling 6550 (Meters ) may be the most stunning peak of the Garwhal region. It rises as a sheer pyramid above the snout of the Gangotri Glacier, in the northern Indian state of Uttrakhand.
Shivling appears as a single pyramid when seen from Gaumukh, but is actually a twin-summit mountain, with the northeast summit being slightly higher than the southwest summit, 6,501 m (21,329 ft). Between Gaumukh and Shivling lies the Tapovan meadow, a popular pilgrimage site due to its inspiring view of the mountain.
Presently our German Exedition is going on, today when I am updating this website it is 10 October 2019. This team will stay in high mountains till 26 October 2019
You can consult our new website www.15peaks.com too After British exploration of the Gangotri Glacier in 1933, a German expedition led by R. Schwarzengruber climbed nearby peaks and did a reconnaissance of Shivling in 1938. Since the first ascent, at least ten other routes have been climbed on the peak, ascending all major ridges and most major faces of the mountain. All routes are extremely serious undertakings.

Day 02 Administrative work in Delhi (Indian regulations), cargo handling, IMF briefing and purchasing etc. If you don’t have anything in Cargo, then we spend this time in some vibrant sightseeing of Delhi, but visit to IMF (Indian Mountaineering Foundation) is important for briefing. Overnight Delhi hotel
Day 03 Delhi–Haridwar–Rishikesh- we offer you a train journey from Delhi to Haridwar this day and later transfer to Rishikesh which is just close by. Haridwar and Rishikesh are two most sacred places of Hindu religion where the presence of holy River Ganges makes this land ancient, important and spiritually rich. Still if you don’t wish to experience the train journey, we have option to travel by road. Visit to Ganges banks, temples and later check into hotel in Rishikesh.
Day 04 Rishikesh–Uttarkashi/ 151 Kms- Morning we start journey on a well-built road across the first pass (1600m) to the provincial capital of Tehri. We prefer to start early so government formalities can be completed at Uttarkashi concerning permits and wild life security deposits. In the evening we stroll in the market to have real experience of this mountain destination and launching place of several high peaks.
Day 05 Uttarkashi–Gangotri (3046m) – We still have few hours to reach deep inside the valley from where we would start our trekking towards the BC. It would take about 5-6 hours to reach Gangotri through narrow, sometimes exposed mountain road and thus arrive in the pilgrim village of Gangotri at the Bhagirathi River. Above some kilometers is the place from where this holy river originates and has extremely high religious value. This is the land of hundreds of sages and saints who can never be separated from the Himalayas. For the overnight, we stay in a guest house nicely maintained.
Day 06, 07 Gangotri (3050m) – Bhojbasa (3790m) – Tapovan (4405 m) - The first days trek to Bhojbasa moves whole the way along with roaring but beautiful Bhagirathi river and we get the excellent view of Bhagirathi group of peaks. The climb to Tapovan is steep but the surroundings are breathtaking. Tapovan is known for its meadows that encircle the base of Mount Shivling (popularly known as Indian Matterhorn).
Note- We are seecting Tapovan as Base Camp in this program, if you are planning to climb from behind, we may need to move one more day further to establish the base camp. This technical point will be discussed when we finalize your route map.
Day 08 Acclimatization/ Base camp establishment/ The initial two hour trek across alpine meadows and sandy flats is deceptively easy towards the base camp which we set for the further acclimatization. Base Camp
Day 10- 25 Ascent of Mt. Shivling and back to Base Camp
