The route involves in this trek over rough glaciers, rocky screens and crevassed snowfields. At times we need to roped up and require the use of ice axes and crampons. Kalindikhal trek takes you half way round Garwhal from the Bhagirathi Valley to the Alaknanda Valley. On this trek you have a chance to see a large number of mammal species: Snow leopard, Black bear, Brown bear, Musk deer, Bharal, Himalayan Thar. The endangered birds are Monal pheasant, Koklas pheasant, Western Tragopan, Himalayan Snow cock, Golden eagle, Bearded vulture, cuckoos, owls & bulbuls etc
Route Detail & General Observations
The trek moves through Bhojwasa and Nandanvan, which are on the majority of routes for climbing expeditions like Shivling, Bhagirathi III and Satopanth, is a glorious experience. Crossing Kalindikhal Pass of 5967 Meters, makes this trek extremely rewarding and challenging in Garwhal Himalayas. Spending time at Rishikesh and Badrinath are full of spiritual information and vibrations which have the capacity to open new horizons to understand life.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi - On Arrival at New Delhi Airport. You will met by our representative and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 02: Delhi - Rishikesh (1115Meters/230 Kms / 6-7hrs)- Morning after breakfast drive (227 km) to reach Rishikesh. Stop at Haridwar for sightseeing of Ganga Ghats & Temples then proceed to Rishikesh. Arrive & check in at the hotel. Evening free to explore Rishikesh which is located at the banks of sacred river Ganges and is a center of several ritual activities and meditation. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 03: Rishikesh - Uttarkashi (170 Kms/ 5-6 hrs)- Morning after breakfast drive to Uttarkashi (1150 mt), which takes 5-6 hrs. Upon arrival check-in at hotel. After lunch visit NIM (Nehru Institute of Mountaineering) Institute & Museum. Evening free to explore the area. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04: Uttarkashi - Gangotri (3048 Meters) Drive (95 Kms/3-4 hrs).- Morning after breakfast drive to Gangotri via Harsil. On arrival check-into Hotel/ Tourist Banglow.
Day 05: Gangotri - Bhojbasa (3792 Meters) Trek (14 Kms /5-6 hrs)- Morning after early breakfast start first days trek to Bhojbasa following the river Bhagirathi on right bank by covering approx 14 Kms in 4-5 hrs. Trek is full of fascinating Himalayan sights and you can have beautiful views of snow clapped peaks around. Upon arrival at Bhojbasa, set up camp for overnight stay.
Day 06: Bhojbasa - Nandanvan (4337 m/14230 ft) Trek (6 Kms / 4-5 hrs)- Morning trek 4-5 hrs to reach the beautiful base of Bhagirathi group of peaks, Nandanvan. The trek crosses Gangotri Glacier. From here view the Shivling, Bhagirathi, Sudarshan, Thelu peaks and Kedardome. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 07: Nandanvan - Vasuki Tal (4880 Meters) Trek (6 Kms / 4-5 hrs)- Morning trek along with Chaturangi Glacier to reach Vasukital, a beautiful base for Mt Satopanth and Mt Vasuki Parbat with a small lake. The trek is steady upward. Arrive in 5-6 hours and overnight stay in tents.
Day 08: Vasuki Tal - Khara Pathar (Suralya Bamak) (5480 Meters) Trek (6 Kms/3-4 hrs) - Morning after breakfast start trek to Suraiaya Bamak (Khara Pathar) with packed lunch. Dinner and overnight in camp. Camping on Moraine
Day 09: Khara Pathar - Kalindikhal Base (5500 Meters) Trek (8 Kms / 4-5 hrs- Morning after breakfast trek 10 Km to reach Kalindikhal Base (Sweta Glacier) (5500 mt). Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 10: Kalindikhal Base - Raja Parav (4910 Meters) Trek (12 Kms / 6-7 hrs)- Mornings after breakfast start your trek (12 km) to Kalindi Pass (5967 mt). Spend some time at the spot and then trek down to Rajparav for dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 11: Raja Parav - Arwatal - Morning after breakfast trek to reach Arwatal (3910 mt) 13 km from Rajparav. Overnight stay in the camp.
Day 12: Arwatal - Ghastoli (3796 Meters) Trek (16 Kms / 5-6 hrs) - Morning after breakfast proceed your trek to reach Ghastoli (3796 km), which is 16 Km from Arwatal. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 13: Ghastoli - Mana - Badrinath (3096 Meters) Trek (18 Kms / 6-7 hrs)- Morning after breakfast start trek to Badrinath, which is situated on the bank of Alaknanda, standing like twin sentinels over the valley are the Nar and Naryana peaks, and in the distance soars the resplendent Neelkanth peak. A seven hrs walk brings you to Mana Village, the last village before the border, where you trek break for lunch. Later a 2 Kms drive brings us to town of Badrinath. On arrival check into hotel. Afternoon visit the temple of Badrinath. Return to hotel for Dinner & Overnight.
Day 14: Badrinath - Joshimath - Early in the morning visit the temple. After breakfast drive to Joshimath. Morning after breakfast drive down to reach Joshimath 44 Km from Badrinath. Overnight stay in the Hotel Dronagiri.
Day 15: Joshimath - Rishikesh - Morning after breakfast drive (257 km) down to reach Rishikesh. On arrival check-in the Hotel for overnight stay. In the evening after wash and change visit Laxman Jhula, Thirteen storied temple, Geeta Ashram, Parmarth Niketan and later join the Aarti ceremony at Triveni Ghat. Latter return back to the Hotel for overnight stay.
Day 16: Free Day at Rishikesh- Free day in Rishikesh for personal activities. You can visit the Geeta Bhawan, Ram Juhla, Laxman Juhla and Ashram etc.
Day 17 : Rishikesh - Delhi - Morning after breakfasts drive to Delhi (227 km). Lunch enroute. Upon arrival at Delhi transfer to airport for onwards journey.
Getting there: Your nearest international airport is Delhi where you will meet with our expedition manager. After essential visits to IMF and cargo (if required), you will be escotrted towards the initial point of your adventure as per the program details.
After the expedition/ adventure journey, you arrive back to Delhi. After de briefing (in case of expedition) and farewell ceremony, you will be driven to international airport to board flight back to your home.
Airtickets: We have our partners in almost every foreign countries, so if you need any assistance in your air tickets bookings, you are always welcome to speak to us to know about our partner close to you.
Cargo Management: We have strong tieups with the cargo management companies to get your consignments clear timely in Delhi. In maximum cases, you will only need to spend just 2 hours for getting your consignmwent delivery. Once you send the documents and the boxes details, we start locating them in India.
Insurance : It is a condition of joining our trips that you must be adequately insured. All persons are expected to arrange their own insurance. Polices should cover any potential risks involved in such adventure.
Our hotels and camps: We offer you best economy hotels in cities and towns and till base camp we provide you very comfirtable tents with maximim possible faciltiies in the mountains. For the trekking, Jeep Safaris, MTB and other adventure journeys, we provide the most luxurious camps fitted with dining areas and modren toilet facilities.
Adventure India briefing: We have excelent maps, images and movies of majoriety of our adventure expeditions/ joiurneys and sports. A short briefing in our offices is highly recommended so the team understands logistics, forecarst problems and know where the solutions would be. We stress on planning, planning and planning in any adventure expediton and till now we have remained successful in all of our expeditions just because of our planning. So we need you to be an active part of it.
Rescue and helicopter evacuation: if the expeditons are well planned, rescue operations can be avoided. In the history of 14 years, we didn’t encounter any seviour requireemtn of rescue but still we can tie up with the agencies to provide helicopter evacuation on your request and willingness to pay the charges.
Peak booking formalities: already mentioned in detail in our mountaineering formalities in India link. For necessary applications either you can check the website of IMF or speak to us.
Ground transportation: We provide the ground transportation compriseing of best available cars/ copaches in fine roads and rough trucks in remote areas of the Indian mountains.
Porters and ponies: We provide ponies till base camp and HAP/ LAPs as per the requirement of the expedition.
Fuel and gases: Fuel (aftwer BC) is not a part of cost included section, but we will manage Butane / Butane propane gases for you on your timely request.
Trek & BC food : We offer a mixture of Vegetarian and Non vegetarian food till BC including the several herbs we have individually discovered with the medicinal values and capacity to keep the body warm. We have cooks who make Korean, Japnese and Continental food along with Indian food.
Our guides & instructors: Our guides are basically trained till BC trekking and support to establish BC. But our instructors do have good experience of mountaineering who can join the expeditions to higher levels too.
Ground Support system: We have fantastic ground support system developed in collaboration with the local people of nearest villages, army camps, porters and local guides. We have re discovered the use of traditional communication system also along with the setellite phones to stay in touch with the groups after BC. Our BC staff is trained to keep information of the groups at ABC and between and act as per the situation.
Cost Includes & not: The cost includes all hotels, guest houses, camps till BC, food till BC, ponies, porters, LAP/ HAP, food & tents for the porters, cooks and staff at BC, insurance of our permanenet staff, food for LO, cargo management, all transportation, all sightseeing, liasioning and coordination, trekking guides and BC management. The cost doent include IMF fees and environment levies, State Government fees and environment levies, porters insurance, clients air fares, helicopter evacuation, extra porters requirement from the BC, extra days at or above BC and any expenditure on personal level including clients insurance/ visa etc.
