Kalachakra in Leh, Ladakh, J&K, India from July 3 to 14: During the first three days of the Kalachakra, from July 3 to 5, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, along with the monks of Namgyal Monastery and senior lamas, will conduct rituals which prepare and consecrate the venue. These include chanting of prayers, creation of the sand mandala and other rituals. From July 6 to 8, His Holiness will give preliminary teachings. On July 9, the Kalachakra Ritual Dance will be performed by the monks of Namgyal Monastery. His Holiness will confer the Kalachakra Initiation from July 10 to 13. On July 14, a long life empowerment (tse-wang) and a ceremony offering prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be performed.
Namgyal Tsemo Monastery or Namgyal Tsemo Gompa is a Buddhist monastery in Leh, founded in 1430 by King Tashi Namgyal of Ladakh. It has a three-story high gold idol of Maitreya Buddha and ancient manuscripts and frescoes
Hemis Festival dates for year 2014 are 7 July & 8 July so fortunately we have extended opportunity not only to witness a Himalayan Buddhist festival but also to understand Trans Himalayan Buddhist rituals in much better way.

• Kindly carry your identity proof and 02 passport size photographs along with your other travel documents and if you are visiting restricted areas, send us the same at the time of booking.
• If you have history of Asthma, High Blood Pressure and Cardiac issues, consult your doctor before you leave for high altitude tour. If required, intimate us in advance for oxygen cylinders to be fixed in your car.
• Your clothing, shoes and day sac are few very important aspects making your trip comfortable, so be careful and mail us if you need any help.
• If you wish to extend the trip, you can always write to us. Extensions on same circuit will have pro rata cost.
• Concerning any special food / beverage you are allergic to or you wish to have during your journeys with us, you are suggested to write us in advance.
Cancellation Policy
You need to deposit 50% of the trip cost at the time of booking and rest by 31 March 2014. The bookings will be open for late registrations too till June 2014, but travelers need to adjust with the available hotels/ guest houses at that particular time.

06 July: Reach Delhi, on arrival you will meet our representative who would be your Kalachakra Journey guide too. You will be driven to your hotel in Delhi- a five star hotel in the heart of Delhi.
07 July: Delhi- Leh, one hours travel by a morning spectacular mountain flight, check into your hotel and rest of the day will move easily so you get acclimatized with the Leh altitude. The hotel in Leh is one among the best in A Category hotel. In the evening a walk on the roads of Leh will be organized to explore its real life and warmth. Dinner in a local restaurant to experience the place more closely.
08 July: Full day at Hemis Festival and evening back to your hotel. Before we leave for Hemis, in the morning we visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hilltop with formidable views of the Indus valley and try to attend the prayers. Later we drive back to Hemis Gompa for its festival celebrations.
09 July: Kalachakra Ritual Dance will be performed by the monks of Namgyal Monastery, witness the performance and drive back to your hotel. This is a full day dedicated participation in the Kalachakra ceremony and we will try to make you a part of maximum possible activities of the day, if you are spiritually inclined. Meeting with the Himalayan Buddhist devotees and exchanging ideas to understand their life and belief will be one of the most rewarding experiences of this journey this day. You are free to make offerings and prayers.
10 July: Full day excursion of Leh monasteries, market and archeological sites and back to your hotel in the evening. Drive to Shey Monastery which is again perched on a hillock is worshiped and cherished by Buddhists from every part of the country. The monastery can be reached by just 15 minutes drive from Leh town. Shey Gompa was built by King Deldon Namgyal in the memory his late father, Singay Namgyal. The monastery served as a royal residence for the kings of Ladakh. Enjoy the splendid beauty of mighty Himalayas here. Each and every corner of the Gompa surprises the visitors for its enchanting beauty and architectural splendor. Later we visit the Shanti Stupa, inaugurated in 1983 by H.H. The Dalai Lama, the peace Pagoda, whose sides are decorated with gilt panels depicting episodes from the life of Buddha, is one of the several monuments erected around India by peace sect of Japanese Buddhists. Following that, you are driven to Sankar Monastery nestled amid the shimmering coppices & terraced fields of Barley. Sankar Monastery contains a formidable collection of miniature statues of pure gold and ancient Thangka Paintings. In the evening, we drive back to our hotel.
11 July: Leh to Nubra valley and overnight at fixed camp. After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla which has the owner of being highest motorable road in the World, situated at 18,380 ft. Enroute drive past the capital Diskit. Drive another 9 Kms further and arrive at the small village of Hunder (3,048 Mt). Off course a visit to Diskit Monastery is in the plan. Buddhist monasteries flourished in the valley among which is the famous Diskit Gompa. This monastery is over 350 years old, is the oldest in the Nubra region. It is also one of the largest. The monastery belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) Sect. Nubra Valley, at an average elevation of 3500 M is sand-witched between the Zanskar Range on its South and the Ladakh Range on its North. This is the geographical backbone, and the historical heartland of Ladakh. The Nubra is a tributary of the Shyok River which flows parallel to the Indus on the northern side of the Ladakh range. Because of its lower altitude the valley has a mild climate and is therefore richer in vegetation. It is often referred to as the "Orchard of Ladakh". In ancient times, the valley was part of the Caravan Route, today it offers unparalleled trekking opportunities and scenic landscapes. It is also the natural habitat of the double backed Bactrian camel. Overnight stay in fixed camp.
12 July: Nubra Valley to Leh back.
13 July: Sham Exploration, After breakfast drive for full day sightseeing to the Likir, Alchi Monastery, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Hall of Fame museum and Sangam (Confluence of Zanskar & Indus River). Back to Leh by evening. 14 July: A long life empowerment (tse-wang) and a ceremony offering prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be performed. You can attend this ceremony and enjoy the prayers. After the ceremony, we drive back to the hotel.
15 July: Fly Leh to Delhi in the morning and check into your hotel in Delhi for the last dinner in India if you don’t wish to travel more.
16 July: Fly home. Our representative will drive you to the international airport for your on time departure.

Getting there: Your nearest international airport is Delhi where you will meet with our trip manage who will escort you towards the initial point of your trip as per the program details with the first night in Delhi hotel. For Sikkim and Bhutan Holidays, the airport of Kolkata is also used to arrive India.

Restricted area/ inner line/ wildlife zone permission: we obtain inner line permits for you to enter in restricted areas and border areas as per the government rules. You need to send your passport, visa and passport size photograph for the same. The permissions to enter in national parks and sanctuaries for wildlife safaris are necessary to confirm well in advance but at few parks, the visitors (you) are required to present and permissions are obtained on arrival.
