Har Ki Doon (where fairies congregate) valley is a cradle shaped hanging valley in the Garwhal Himalaya which is surrounded by snow covered peaks and alpine vegetation. It is connected to Baspa Valley by Borasu Pass.
This valley is situated at the altitude of 3566 Meters and surrounded by beautiful mountains and forests with ample wildlife. The valley offers very special trees of Bhojpatra, the rare Bramha Kamal, and many varieties of fauna. Har Ki Doon is the base for Swargarohini (6400 meters). Swargarohini and Jaundar Glacier are located towards the south-east of Har Kid Doon and one can see the Bandar Punch Mountain towards its west.
The local people in the valley live in nicely carved wooden houses with the images of local deities majorly taken from the great Indian epic Mahabharata on their main doors. They cultivate rice and potato and the male generation can be easily seen sharing tobacco on Hukka pipes. Hukka Pipe is a large traditional smoking pipe from probably came to India from Arab countries. It is a social device which can be smoked by several people at one sitting.
This is a moderate trek which takes one to least explored valley of Garwhal. The route is a combination of experiencing ascending gentle trails through luxuriant oak and conifer forest while passing through the traditional Hindu mountain villages to the alpine meadows where mountain peaks soar above the valley of Har Ki Doon. Situated in the upper catchment basin of the Tons River, this area claims the home of almost all the major groups of the high altitude flowers, birds and animals in the Himalayan zone.
Recommended months: Mid April to June & Sep to Oct (July and August observe heavy rainfall in the valley)

Day 01: Arrive Delhi, on arrival to India at International Airport of Delhi, you will find our office representative to meet you and further assist you to drop at your hotel.
Day 02: Delhi to Dehradun by Shatabdi Express Train 12017 departing Delhi at 0650 hours in the morning takes almost 6 hours to reach. The breakfast is served inside the train and on arrival at 1240; you will be transferred to Mussoorie by pre arranged cars for you covering a distance of 30 Kms only. Check in to the hotel and later afternoon is free to relax.
Day 03: Mussoorie: Day at leisure. Mussoorie is known as the “queen of hills”, in 1832, Mussoorie was the intended terminus of the Great Survey of India that began at the southern tip of India. Although unsuccessful, the Surveyor General of India wanted to have the new office of the Survey of India based in Mussoorie. A compromise was to have it in Dehradun, where it still located. During the 1959 Tibetan rebellion the Central Tibetan Administration of the 14th Dalai Lama was at first established in Mussoorie before being moved to its present location in Dharamsala. You can make a sightseeing trip of the day to Kempty fall, Gun hill, George Hill Everest, Company Garden and later walk on the mostly crowded Mall
road.
Day 04: Mussoorie - Sankri (166 Kms/ 5-6 hrs) drive and Sankri – Taluka (10 Kms):
Morning we start driving for 6 hours to Sankri which is 166 Kms from Mussoorie on the twisting road following a winding course going into the Yamuna valley and the Kempty falls, finally descending into the Tons river valley, crossing few small towns. Sankri is the last village connected to the motor road. This picturesque village is about 13 Kms inside the Govind Wild Life and it can be called as the gateway to the almost untouched Har-Ki-Doon (3566m) valley. A jeep road is almost completed to the village of Taluka (elevation 1900 m); so we may drive to a nice point just past Sankri and spend the late afternoon walking rest of the last 8-10 Kms to enjoy the surroundings and to get our muscles ready for trekking. We camp near Taluka amid the wild roses and the deodar trees. Overnight stay in TENTS.
Day 05: Taluka – Osla 2559 mts.) Trek 13 Kms/ 4/5 hrs):
Morning after breakfast, we start our trek to Osla by crossing the Siyan Gad by bridge and continue gradually on the true left of the valley adjoining the river Rupin. Further the trail ascends to Dhatmir village. This area has very dense forests of Walnut, Chestnut, Willows and Chinars. On the way we visit the Ghangore Village & its local temple. Surprisingly, the villagers worship Kaurvas and Duryodhana (known as the bad characters in Mahabharata). The campsite is located opposite to the village of Osla and separated by the swift river. Overnight stay in TENTS.
Day 06: Osla - Har Ki Doon (3506 Mt.) Trek 14 Kms. 5/6 hrs:
Today after Osla we continue trek to Har Ki Dun. The trail and surroundings is extremely picturesque. Little steams cross our path and the trail climbs gradually through lush green terraced mountain fields and spotted with varied wild flowers. The meadows of Har Ki dun have a back drop of snowy mountain peaks where we get wonderful views towards East of Ruinsara Gad: Kalanag peak (6387 Mt.), Bandar Punch (6316 Mt.) and Swargarohini (6252 Mt.). The views of Juandar glacier towards North are extremely fantastic and the path witnesses dense forests too. It is one of the most picturesque spot in the Garwhal Hills. Our campsite is located by a small stream, with peaks of Swargarohini towering above. Overnight stay in TENTS.
Day 07: Har Ki Dun - Borasu Pass (4725 Mt) - Har Ki Doon (around 6 Kms/ 5-6 hrs):
This is a unique hiking excursion day taking one towards the Borasu Pass with a gradual ascend. The view of surrounding peaks is breathtaking. Borasu Pass divides Har Ki Doon with Sangla valley of Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh. The huge and picturesque valley is flanked by massive mountains on three sides, and the valley floor is covered in soft grassy patches. After exploring the heavenly beautiful valley, we retrace down to our campsite. Overnight stay in TENTS.
Day 08: Har-Ki-Doon - Dev Sach (14 Kms/ 5-6 hrs):
It’s remarkably an easy trek where after breakfast we walk down the trail and take the route to Dev Sach which is a large meadow where local shepherds graze their buffalo. This is also called as Debshu Bughyal, where Bughyal means the meadow. This part of the trek is generally downhill through meandering meadows. Overnight stay in TENTS.
Day 09: Dev Sach - Ruinsara Lake (12 Kms/ 5 hrs):
From Dev Sach we walk towards to Ruinsara Lake or Ruinsara Tal as its better known locally. The trail takes us through mixed forest and meadows of flowers as well as some beautiful waterfalls. It is a delightful walk through the pine, fir, and juniper to the Lake, considered sacred by the local villagers. Surrounded by rhododendrons and shadowed by the impressive Swargarohini range, it is a perfect campsite. Overnight stay in TENTS.
Day 10: Ruinsara Lake - Foot of Bali Pass 4400 Mt. (8 Kms/ 5 hrs):
After breakfast, we steadily climb to the foot or base of Bali Pass. A Majestic view of Kalanagh, Bandar punch and Swargarohini peaks stands in front of the base camp, which create thrill and excitement of moving for a real Himalayan expedition. Overnight stay in TENTS.
Day 11: Foot of Bali Pass - Bali Pass (4800 Mt) – Yamunotri (3165 Mt): 10 Kms/ 5-6 hrs:
We prefer leaving our camp in early morning for another exciting day of trek. This day we are crossing the Bali pass, which is about 4800 Mt. This is a rocky pass and so the glaciers and crevasses are rarely found throughout the trek which might create any risk. This pass divides the Tons valley and the Yamunotri valley and so once after crossing it, we enter into a new valley of Yamunotri enjoying a magnificent view of Swargarohini peak and below Ruinsara Gad on the other hand. After the pass, the route descends through open meadows and later through forests to lead near Yamunotri shrine, dominated by Bandar punch (6361 Mt). Yamunotri is the source of the river Yamuna and it is one of the four Dham Shrines of Hindu pilgrimage. Overnight stay in TENT.
Day 12: Yamunotri - Janki Chatti (2575 Mt) - Hanuman Chatti (2400 Mt) (13 Kms/ 6-7 hrs):
This day we trek along Yamuna River fairly downhill to Janki Chatti than further to Hanuman Chatti. Hanuman Chatti is the last motor point before heading to Rishikesh. It's also a confluence of two holy rivers Yamuna and Hanuman Ganga. Although the road is connected till Janki Chatti but walking this 07 Kms distance is simply refreshing. The thermal water springs at Janki Chatti are the inevitable stoppages for the pilgrims of Yamunotri. The river side scenic beauty at Hanuman Chatti acts as a perfect place to enjoy nature and countryside. Hanuman Chatti is also the beginning spot for the famous trek route of Dodi Tal too. Overnight stay in TENT/ GUEST HOUSE.
Day 13: Hanuman Chatti – Rishikesh (220 Kms/ 5-6 hrs):
We drive to Rishikesh today, once we reach Rishikesh, we get driven to our hotel for a comfortable stay and relax. Evening we can participate in Ganga Aarti and go around the famous Ashrams, temples and yoga centers. Overnight stay in HOTEL.
Day 14: Rishikesh – Haridwar by car and Train to Delhi, transfer to Hotel and later transfer to International airport for your connecting flight to home.
