This trek is limited to people experienced in travel in rugged backcountry and with solid know-how of hiking and camping. One of the most challenging routes, it takes one from the lush green Kullu valley to the stark landscapes of Bara Bhangal range. But for the trouble, it is a very fruitful trek that people looking for an isolated, in-tune-with-nature routes. This is a trek for the 'Himalayan hand', with an opportunity to absorb unrivalled views of the Pir Panjal, Bara Bhangal and Dhauladhar ranges before descending to the Kangra Valley and Dharamshala -the seat of the 14th Dalai Lama and his Tibetan government in exile.
Route details and general observation
Manali is the initial point of this trek, a quaint beautiful hill resort and the gateway to Ladakh, Lahoul & Spiti. The trek moves through the beautiful landscapes of Lamadug and crosses Manali Pass. The trek enters into Bara Bhangal Region- which is known as the original place of Himalayan Shepherds.

Day 1: Arrive Delhi / on arrival you will meet our airport representative at airport who will assist you to your hotel in our vehicle where you will be welcomed by our Delhi office manager. He will discuss with you the schedule of next day and handover you the necessary documents and travel vouchers.
Day 2: Delhi – Manali Half day sightseeing at Delhi and by evening drive to Manali by bus. O/N journey.
Day 3: Manali -On arrival transfer to hotel early in the morning and later walk to Hadimba Devi Temple and old Manali. Later by car visit Tibetan Monastery and the Mall road. Dinner and O/N stay at hotel. This day the group members can sort out their requirements and can buy few necessary things for the trekking if required.
Day 4: Manali – Lama Dugh (3380 m) 4 hrs (TREK BEGINS)- In the morning we will trek to Lama Dugh. As one gains height, the view of different faces of Indrasan, Deo Tibba peaks and Bara Shigri Glacier opens up. In the last lag, one enters the campsite on an alpine plateau studded with thick growth of alpine flowers. Dinner and O/N stay in camp.
Day 5: Lama Dugh - Rani Sui (4268 m) 3 hrs- We will trek to Rani Sui. The trek is through a steep ridge below Thanpri Tibba (4000m). One can have a magnificent glimpse of Manali and the whole upper Kullu valley, which appears swathed in the different colors of the season. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.
Day 6: Rani Sui - Taintagiri Glacier (4917m) over MANALI PASS 5070 M -Over Manali Pass (5070 M) 5 hrs, the day is challenging and full of adventure. The Manali Pass offers some great views of the higher peaks in the region - Indrasan, Deo Tibba and Hanuman Tibba. The walk of this day although with its difficult nature because of the high pass, otherwise is full of excitement because the views and landscape if extremely beautiful. The camp night next to the glacier is an experience of lifetime made luxurious with delicious food provided by our kitchen staff. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.
Day 7: Taintagiri Glacier - Phulan Got (4064 m) 4 hrs- The fourth day's walk takes one past the Taintagiri Nullah to the river Ravi. After the Manali pass, this is a considerably easy day with the only challenge being in crossing the Taintagiri Nullah but your guide makes it comfortable with his long experience. River Ravi is one among the most popular rivers of the Himalayas on the banks of which many civilizations had flourished and still the several stories are very famous in the villages located with its banks. The river shows it best presence in Chamba district of Himachal and further goes into Pakistan. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.
Day 8 : Phulan Got - Koari Got Spring (3253 m) 4 hrs- We start the trek in the morning after breakfast and give ample time for trekkers to observe the quaint beauty of the valley before this. The second glacier of the trek is crossed on this day which again is not less rewarding. Logically we prefer for an early start so we cross the glacier before the heat of sun strikes it and make the footsteps loose while trekking on it. The trail follows the river and then passes the Karu glacier. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.
Day 9 : Koari Got Spring - Bara Bhangal (2582 m) 5 hours -The trail now continues down the Ravi River into the deodar forest, to the only large village in the valley, Bara Bhangal. The area is dominated by the Gaddi (shepherds) tribe which is generally co related with the lord Shiva and it is also said that this tribe is as old as the presence of Shiva in the mountains. The tribe, from centuries is associated with the sheep and goats and moves from one to other pastures in Himalayas for complete summers and get down to the plains once the winter starts. The hardship of this tribe is stunning and even with the vast opportunities of the present world, they rarely leave this traditional profession. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.
Day 10: Rest day at Bara Bhangal -Explore village and surrounding areas. Bara Bhangal is isolated and seldom visited. Members of the Gaddi tribe inhabit it and your guide will try to find opportunity to visit to some house and interact with this tribe. Dinner and O/N stay in tents.
Day 11: Bara Bhangal to Thamser- Leaving the village we now head south across the hills towards the base of the Thamser Pass (4200 M). The walk is pleasant and the climb can be a bit tiring but the beautiful views make up for this. Camp at the base.
Day 12: Base Camp to Pannatu A steep climb through forests and we reach the top of the pass. Stopping awhile- here to take in the unforgettable views we cross over the Thamser Pass (4570 meters) and a steady descent takes us to Pannatu our next campsite. The distance is 19 Kms and takes 7 hours.
Day 13: Trek to Billing- Passing several villages enroute we head towards the small village of Billing in the district of Kangra. Billing is also well known for its annual paragliding and hang Gliding competitions. We reach our campsite near the village of Billing by evening.
Day 14: Drive to Mc Leodganj (Dharamsala)- full day to relax and evening to explore Tibetan Monastery and establishments.
Day 15: Full day in Mc Leodganj and transfer to Pathankot to catch train for Delhi.
Day 16:Morning arrival Delhi and whole day is free. Evening we will transfer you to international airport for flight back to your home place.
Getting there: Your nearest international airport is Delhi where you will meet with our expedition manager. After essential visits to IMF and cargo (if required), you will be escotrted towards the initial point of your adventure as per the program details.
After the expedition/ adventure journey, you arrive back to Delhi. After de briefing (in case of expedition) and farewell ceremony, you will be driven to international airport to board flight back to your home.

Cargo Management: We have strong tieups with the cargo management companies to get your consignments clear timely in Delhi. In maximum cases, you will only need to spend just 2 hours for getting your consignmwent delivery. Once you send the documents and the boxes details, we start locating them in India.
Insurance : It is a condition of joining our trips that you must be adequately insured. All persons are expected to arrange their own insurance. Polices should cover any potential risks involved in such adventure.
Our hotels and camps: We offer you best economy hotels in cities and towns and till base camp we provide you very comfirtable tents with maximim possible faciltiies in the mountains. For the trekking, Jeep Safaris, MTB and other adventure journeys, we provide the most luxurious camps fitted with dining areas and modren toilet facilities.
Adventure India briefing: We have excelent maps, images and movies of majoriety of our adventure expeditions/ joiurneys and sports. A short briefing in our offices is highly recommended so the team understands logistics, forecarst problems and know where the solutions would be. We stress on planning, planning and planning in any adventure expediton and till now we have remained successful in all of our expeditions just because of our planning. So we need you to be an active part of it.
Rescue and helicopter evacuation: if the expeditons are well planned, rescue operations can be avoided. In the history of 14 years, we didn’t encounter any seviour requireemtn of rescue but still we can tie up with the agencies to provide helicopter evacuation on your request and willingness to pay the charges.
Peak booking formalities: already mentioned in detail in our mountaineering formalities in India link. For necessary applications either you can check the website of IMF or speak to us.
Ground transportation: We provide the ground transportation compriseing of best available cars/ copaches in fine roads and rough trucks in remote areas of the Indian mountains.
Porters and ponies: We provide ponies till base camp and HAP/ LAPs as per the requirement of the expedition.
Fuel and gases: Fuel (aftwer BC) is not a part of cost included section, but we will manage Butane / Butane propane gases for you on your timely request.
Trek & BC food : We offer a mixture of Vegetarian and Non vegetarian food till BC including the several herbs we have individually discovered with the medicinal values and capacity to keep the body warm. We have cooks who make Korean, Japnese and Continental food along with Indian food.
Our guides & instructors: Our guides are basically trained till BC trekking and support to establish BC. But our instructors do have good experience of mountaineering who can join the expeditions to higher levels too.
Ground Support system: We have fantastic ground support system developed in collaboration with the local people of nearest villages, army camps, porters and local guides. We have re discovered the use of traditional communication system also along with the setellite phones to stay in touch with the groups after BC. Our BC staff is trained to keep information of the groups at ABC and between and act as per the situation.
